It's been 31 days since the Justice League disappeared through a Boom Tube. Superman, Batman, Wonder Woman, Green Lantern, The Flash, Aquaman, and the Martian Manhunter received a distress call from Orion on New Genesis for a "fate of reality" deal, and off they went.
No one has heard from them since.
For us here on Earth, though, time marches on. A meeting was called by the ever-present Oracle, Barbara Gordon, to determine a roster for a substitute Justice League. Seven League auxiliary regulars answered the call:
Nightwing would fill in for Batman, Black Canary for Wonder Woman, and Captain Atom for Superman.
Wally West and John Stewart, naturally, would fill in for Barry and Hal. Kyle Rayner was a first choice, but he's been off-world for some time now, fulfilling his newfound duties as the White Lantern.
No one from Atlantis could be spared to substitute for Aquaman- they're dealing with their own problems right now, in the wake of an absent king- but fellow communer with the animal kingdom Vixen was fortunately available to step in.
And, finally, Outsiders veteran Metamorpho, aka Rex Mason, was drafted as a substitute for Martian Manhunter.
But on the day of this substitute league's first meeting, Rex never showed up. Red Tornado currently serves in his stead, but inquiries are being made into his whereabouts.
This is the story of some other guys.
